Emeli Sandé, (no Sunday!) Hits: Lesson and Next To Me
Debut single Emeli Sandé: HeavenThe magnificent Heaven, the debut single of Emeli Sandé with the characteristic beat came out on August 14, 2011. DJs from 3FM embraced the song and were deeply impressed which resulted in the unanimous choice for this song as Megahit for week 34. In February 2012, her second single was released in the Netherlands: Next To Me.
The singer was already in their support act during the worldwide tour of Coldplay.
In Great Britain, home of Emeli, the song already arrived at two in the popcharts that week and was already one in the dancecharts. Heaven has a beat that stands in the middle trip hop and drum 'n' bass, is framed by celestial strings and sounds euphoric, with the voice of the Glasgow singer taking the listener to great soulful heights. At times it looks like samples of it Massive Attack to be braided through the number. The hype about the Scottish singer lasts a while in England and there was already a lot of speculation about which single she would be the first to release from her debut album, many newspapers kept it on Daddy, so it became Heaven.
